The downtown core of Vancouver (the financial district) offers a variety of mainstream restaurants like Earl’s, Cactus Club, and Joey’s that function as hot after work hangouts. The food is consistently good and on weekdays you’ll see businessmen in suits, and single ladies mingling by the bar or watching the hockey game. Steak restaurants are also prominent downtown like Gotham, Hy’s KOBE and Morton’s which offer quiet settings for upscale dining, jazz enjoyment and posh group parties.
If you’re looking for nightclubs downtown Granville street has a bunch of clubs like the Roxy that’s always packed. Granville street attracts a younger crowd and the clubs definitely get a little messy and drunk which may be right up your alley. Yaletown has one night club, Bar None, where you can dance and flirt - but Yaletown has many awesome lounges and cocktail bars like George. Yaletown offers a variety of higher end restaurants where you’ll want to dress up a bit to maximize enjoyment. The food is awesome and expensive. People watching is great here - you’ll find a variety of yuppies, gold diggers, rock stars, celebrities and young girls (and old cougars) on the prowl.
Gastown is the new up and coming hangout for foodies and music lovers. You’ll find a variety of concerts in the restaurants and lounges with new artists, jazz musicians and rockers. The restaurants offer great food that isn’t as mainstream as the rest of Vancouver. You’ll find local business owners running champagne lounges, unique restaurants, and late night haunts. You’ll never get bored in Gastown with the variety offered. This is also the historic district of downtown Vancouver so it’s got an old world charm to it. Denman street offers quiet eclectic restaurants close to English Bay beaches and Stanley park - great for an evening date with gelatos or an afternoon of patios and the outdoor pool.
