The River Rock Casino Resort is located just outside of Vancouver in Richmond. It is accessible from the airport as well as from downtown Vancouver by the Canada Line- Vancouver‘s newest subway. For those who like fast furious fun, this is your stop!
The resort itself is more than a casino; it is also a hotel, theatre, conference centre, cabaret, and trade show area. If that isn’t enough, there is also a swimming pool, water slide, spa, shopping centre and 144 berth marina!
The River Rock Casino opened in 2004. Run by Great Canadian Gaming, the casino is a result of the 1997 by law expanding gaming hours. This change, together with the introduction of slot machines, dramatically increased the desire for more gaming sites. There were large casinos in Victoria and Coqutilam, but nothing in the GVRD- Greater Vancouver Regional District. The River Rock Casino was the answer to that and it has been busy non - stop since it opened. In fact is has been so popular that is has already undergone a $30 million dollar facelift. The biggest feature of this facelift is the fifth longest elevated walkway in North America. With the Canada line open and in full operation access from the airport and downtown Vancouver has never been easier.
Richmond is conveniently located a mere 20 minutes from the US border, so Americans looking to pop over for a quick visit do not have to drive into Vancouver itself.
The hotel is a combination of sophistication and tranquility. There are one and two bedroom suites plus a fabulous 2800 square foot presidential suite. There is a magnificent spa, fitness centre, and indoor tropical themed pool. There are 9, yes 9 restaurants and bars to choose from. The hotel has an AAA rating complete with a four storey lobby replete with cascading waterfalls.
The River Rock Show Theatre is the home of world class entertainment and special events. All the seats are excellent and the theatre can be transformed into a trade centre within an hour! The theatre is also home to a museum of memorabilia from Hollywood North. The theatre’s sister theatre, The Red Robinson Show Theatre is next door and is home to many popular entertainment acts as well. This combination of two large theatres so close together is uncommon in North America. The 70,000 square foot Casino itself is a state of the art wonderland with all games running until 2am. There is also live feed of Hong Kong racing for those who like to stay up super late! Food and liquor are available inside the casino and there is free coffee, tea and soft drinks for players.
