Fort Saskatchewan is located 15 minutes (or 25 kilometers) north of Edmonton, on the North Saskatchewan River. Fort Saskatchewan is part of the Edmonton Census Metropolitan Area and is one of 24 municipalities on the Capital Region Board (CRB). According to the census the population is 18,600.
Fort Saskatchewan is bordered by Strathcona County (Edmonton) to the south and east, Sturgeon County to the north and west, and the City of Edmonton to the southwest. The city of Fort Saskatchewan is known for its flock of 50 sheep that populates the downtown park throughout the summer months. The city mascot is a sheep called Auggie.
Fort Saskatchewan is situated near 50 kilometers of paved walking and biking trails. And it is a short drive to golf courses, an indoor swimming pool, and the downtown historic Fort Saskatchewan and business core.
