Edmonton Valley Zoo

The Edmonton Valley Zoo is home to over 350 animals from different climates and habitats. The Edmonton Valley Zoo is situated on near the North Saskatchewan River in the city of Edmonton. The zoo provides an intimate setting that allows visitors to connect with the natural world and to learn to conserve the environment for future generations.
Amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals, the constantly evolving collection of animals means that there is always something new at the zoo! More than 350 animals live permanently at the zoo. The Edmonton Valley Zoo is a small zoo that provides a range of animal experiences for young and old.
Edmonton City Council approved $50 million for the zoo. The recent funding will allow the City of Edmonton to foster a better zoo environment, and more opportunities for visitors to interact directly with animals, plus a new research and environmental education building.
The Edmonton Valley Zoo takes an active role in the environmental global issue of conservation by taking part in the Species Survival Plan.
The Edmonton Valley Zoo has started construction on a new arctic zoo habitat. Visitors will be able to experience Canada's eclectic Arctic region and understand the importance of biodiversity.
Roving zoo educators present a variety of short animal demonstrations and fun programs. When visitors enter the zoo, they are given a schedule of that day’s activities.
NOTE: The time of the daily drop-in programs is always approximate and can change due to the unpredictability of working with animals as well as changing local weather conditions.
The Edmonton Valley Zoo is wheelchair accessible. As well, there are wheelchairs and scooters at the zoo that can be rented for the day. There are food services on site: fast food, ice cream, and food vendors. Strollers are available to rent and there is an onsite gift shop.
