Edmonton Space and Science Centre
What began in July 1978 as a foundation of a private non-profit organization, is now is a complete science experience for children and adults. It is advisable to spend all day there as there is a lot to see and do. There are also short programs for younger children.
The mission of the Edmonton Space and science centre is to: "create a positive science and technology culture in our region that inspires and motivates people to learn about, and contribute to, science and technology advances that strengthen themselves, their families, and their community."
Kids love going to the space centre and. Adults think it is time well spent. Exhibitions are permanent and ongoing so check the events page on the website to see what is appropriate and interesting for you and your family.
Explore an Exhibit or two, catch the latest IMAX film, immerse yourself in cool Full-Dome shows in the Margaret Ziegler Star Theatre or take part in a Science Demonstrations. Visit the Gift shop. There is also an observatory for night sky viewing.
There is a café on site. The science centre also offers, camps courses, and it is a great place to host a birthday party! Some exhibitions are available for rental if you wish to have the science centre come to you.
There is the IMAX® theatre as well. Spectacular, crystal clear images of immense size and clarity are enhanced by a state of the art multi-speaker sound system that brings movies to life — larger than life- on the13m x 19m screen. Close captioning as descriptive audio are available.
