Edmonton Motels
What is the difference between a hotel and a motel? Motels are often smaller than hotels and are privately owned although there are many large motel chains and franchises; Motels are sometimes on a highway. Families that are on road trips find motels less expensive and more like a small home or apartment. Motel rooms have a refrigerator and /or microwave in their rooms. Some motel rooms have a small kitchenette (stove, a small kitchen counter and fridge). Motels do not have room service. People staying in a Motel usually stay one or two nights. Motels have fewer frills than hotels and lower rates.
In the old days, a Motel was u-shaped and surrounded by a parking lot. Guests parked their cars outside their motel room door. Edmonton is a city surrounded by highways and has a large infrastructure of highways as well, and there are lots of inexpensive quality motels to choose from:
