Edmonton is known as ‘Festival City’. Every year there are approximately 30 festivals in Edmonton. Festivals in Edmonton celebrate an impressive variety of disciplines: music, visual arts, dance, performing arts, sports and film. Edmonton Folk Music Festival

This festival began in 1980 with a small core staff and 300 volunteers. Since then, the Edmonton Folk Music Festival has become to become one of the leading folk festivals in the world.

Edmonton Fringe Festival

Also known as Fringe Theatre Adventures, this is the largest and oldest Fringe festival in North America. Modeled after the Edinburgh Fringe, the Fringe’s mandate is to , “Fringe Theatre Adventures is dedicated to the creation of theatre that challenges and celebrates the cultural fabric of our communities, and provides a home for developing new and emerging artists, audiences and forums. “ Not to be missed! http://fringetheatreadventures.ca/

Edmonton Street Performers Festival

Held annually in July, a company of artists from around the world flock to Sir Winston Churchill Square
(Downtown Edmonton). Check the schedule before arriving; the performances are adjusted according to the weather conditions and crowds. Free admission, pay performers by donation.

Serca Festival of Irish Theatre

Presented by Theatre Prospero, this festival is part of Arts on the Avenue, a grass roots organization dedicated to promoting local talent.
