Vancouver's Science World
Vancouver’s Science World is located at 1455 Quebec Street, at the Main Street/ Science World SkyTrain Station. It’s impossible to miss with its colossal, geodesic dome! The dome was built for Expo ’86 and is now Science World’s Alcan Omnimax Theatre. It is made up of 766 aluminum triangles, harbors the worlds largest dome screen, and features amazing documentaries, light shows, and 3-D presentations!
Science World also offers hundreds of interactive activities for the whole family. The main themes are exploration, imagination, creation, and discovery, which are represented in all 5 of the museum’s permanent galleries: The Eureka! exhibit explores the science of water, light, sound, and motion; the Sara Stern Search Gallery examines insects, artifacts, nature, and the human body; the Kidspace section offers exciting hands-on activities for children under the age of 6; the Our World demonstration provides exciting solutions for a better future; and the Visual Illusions exhibit is bound to be fun for everyone! There are always new shows and exhibits that are introduced throughout the year.
In addition to the interactive exhibits and the Omnimax, there is the Center Stage, which plays 5 shows per day, and the Weyerhaeuser Science Theatre with interactive computer terminals to use during the show. Don’t forget to visit the Gift Shop, which offers a multitude of toys, gifts, games, and much more! The Vancouver World of Science is a wonderful experience for the whole family, and you can even buy a Science World Magazine to remember the experience. Visit the BC Science World today!
